You might have heard the game The Sims somewhere since it’s really kind of known to people as the best simulation game. If you haven’t, it is a game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts (EA Games) where you make your own character known as a Sim. You choose their looks, attitude and stuff. You basically build your own family and you can also build their house in any way you want and buy furniture. You control their lives and you do whatever you want with them. Make the other person their enemy, friend or lover. It’s a game where you can build your dream family and house and have fun. I guarantee you that it would be a fun game when you’re bored. It was first introduced to me by my cousin and I was 6 back then but as you see its age rating is for 12 years old and above. It really doesn’t matter as long as you know what you’re doing and I’m not saying that I know what I’m doing. I knew it was just game for fun and my cousin’s always with me. Back then it was just plain old Sims where you can still see the pixels and can’t zoom in much, in short, bad graphics. There are also little options of things to do but go to work and babies magically appear in a cradle. Then they had Makin’ Magic, Livin’ Large, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation, Unleashed and Superstar expansion packs which was a sign of development and it added more thrill to the plain Sims. The only Sims expansion packs I got to play were Makin’ Magic, Livin’ Large, Hot Date and Vacation in one. It allows you to make potions and stuff. You can buy small plumbobs (diamond thing above their heads) and it magically turns into a buffet, have a vacation with your family in a lot of places though it takes eons of time to load. Two years after, it was 2004 when they released Sims 2. Sims 2 was a better version which allows you more things to do but still have limitations. A lot of new things were shown, from the new clothes to more actions with the Sims. I never had a chance to play the expansion packs for Sims 2 but I think it’s all pretty cool and more fun. Sims 2 expansion packs are University, Night Life, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Free Time, Apartment Life and Bon Voyage. As I have known and from the videos on Youtube, the expansion packs have more cool stuff, things to do and more career tracks. In the expansion packs you can make your Sims in the University: zombies, Nightlife: vampires, Open for Business: robots, Pets: werewolves, Seasons: Plant Sims (which are pretty cool), Bon Voyage: ape-like Sims, Apartment Life: warlocks and witches. By that, it means more awesome actions like casting spells to your fellow Sims, own pets, get businesses and stuff. It was five years later that they released Sims 3, it was 2009. I tell you, it was more developed and complicatedly designed. You can own a car and navigate through the whole town in no time. Not like the older versions that it takes a lot of time to load to go to the town. Graphics were a lot better. You can zoom in ‘til you get in the face of your Sim. More choices of clothes and you can actually choose their make-up, put highlights in their hair and customize almost all the stuff like furniture. Sims 3 expansion packs are, World Adventures, Ambitions and Late Night. I also didn’t get to play those on PC version but I get to play the World Adventures and Ambition on my iPod Touch. The iPod version is not nearly like the PC version since it has limitations but at least I get to have a peek on what it’s like. I didn’t get to play a lot of the expansion packs because in this country it’s not easy to get copies. You can’t even get to see a copy in the malls in Manila. I tried; my dad and I tried but failed. The other reason was that it’ll take up a large amount of your PC memory because in Europe, they use supercomputer for The Sims. I once installed Sims 3 and my PC crashed, well, it survived. I swear to you that it’s the best simulation game. You wouldn’t notice you already spent half of the day playing it. :)
